After King Charles kicked Prince Harry and Meghan Markle out of Frogmore Cottage, the couple purchased a European vacation home.

The Sussexes chose to buy their stunning new holiday home in Portugal. Princess Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, also own a home in Portugal.

The purchase of their home in Portugal may have allowed Harry and Meghan to procure a “Golden Visa,” granting them visa-free entry to the European Union’s Schengen area.

When Harry and Meghan first got engaged, the Duchess claimed that she would go through the process of applying for British citizenship, which could have taken several years to be approved.

However, Harry and Meghan left the UK after stepping down as working royals in January 2020. In January 2023, the King informed the pair that they needed to vacate Frogmore Cottage, the only place they had to stay when visiting Britain. This left them solely US-based.

His Majesty made the difficult decision to ask his son to pack up and leave after his tell-all memoir, “Spare,” was published.

In the book, Harry talks trash about several members of the royal family, including Charles’s wife, Camilla, as he vilifies her and calls her “dangerous.”

He also details an altercation between him and his brother, Prince William, that turned physical. Allegedly, William threw Harry into a dog bowl, leaving him with cuts all over his body.

Harry also had some not-so-nice things to say about William’s wife, Kate Middleton. He claimed she made Meghan cry over an argument over Princess Charlotte’s flower girl dress for Harry and Meghan’s wedding. He also claimed Kate apologized the next day and brought Meghan flowers.

It has been said that all of this was a lie and that Meghan is the one who made Kate cry. Prince Harry and Prince William haven’t directly spoken since Queen Elizabeth’s funeral in September 2022.
