W poniedziałek (5 maja) Donald Tusk gościł w mieście Wageningen w Holandii z okazji Dnia Wyzwolenia. Szef rządu podczas swojego wystąpienia w języku angielskim przypomniał o napaści hitlerowskich Niemiec na Polskę. Nie popisał się jednak lektor, który tłumaczył wystąpienie premiera. Doszło do fatalnego przejęzyczenia.
Premier Donald Tusk przyleciał do Holandii na zaproszenie tamtejszych władz, by razem z nowym szefem rządu Dickiem Schoofem wziąć udział w uroczystościach z okazji Dnia Wyzwolenia. Jednym z głównych punktów programu było zapalenie Płomienia Wyzwolenia.

Podczas obchodów 80. rocznicy zakończenia niemieckiej okupacji w Holandii, Donald Tusk wygłosił przemówienie, w którym odniósł się do tragicznych wydarzeń II wojny światowej, rosyjskiej inwazji na Ukrainę oraz roli współpracy europejskiej. Premier został zaproszony na uroczystości 5 maja z okazji holenderskiego Dnia Wyzwolenia.
Uwaga mediów i internautów skupiła się jednak nie na treści wystąpienia, a na poważnym błędzie w tłumaczeniu fragmentu poświęconego atakowi na Westerplatte. – (…) tej strasznej wojny.
