Mahomes was injured in the game: So how did the Chiefs still win for a reason that surprised everyone ? Details below in comments 👇👇👇
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes addressed the media after sustaining an injury during a recent game. Despite the setback, Mahomes displayed his trademark composure and determination, emphasizing his focus on recovery and preparation for the next challenge.
Mahomes provided details about the injury, which occurred during a critical fourth-down play. “I was trying to run up in the pocket, and as I threw the ball, I kind of got hit,” he explained. “It felt like someone hit me from behind as well, and I just got rolled up on. It’s one of those things that happens in football.” While he initially attempted to bounce back, the pain led to a decision to prioritize his long-term health.
Acknowledging the adrenaline that comes with game time, Mahomes admitted that the true extent of the injury would likely become clearer the following day. “Usually, it’s the day after when you get a good sense of it,” he said. Despite feeling capable of finishing the game under different circumstances, Mahomes agreed with the coaching staff’s decision to have backup quarterback Carson Wentz step in. “We talked about it, and it was the smart decision,” Mahomes noted. “Carson’s played a lot of football, and he finished the game well.”
Reflecting on his interaction with head coach Andy Reid, Mahomes acknowledged the difference in urgency compared to past situations. “In the past, it was the playoffs, kind of a do-or-die situation,” he explained. “This time, I trusted our defense and Carson to finish the game. If it had been a one-score game, I might have fought a little harder to go back out there.”
