Prince William and Kate Middleton pull out of traditional pre-Christmas lunch at Buckingham Palace
The Prince and Princess of Wales will be absent from the Royal family’s traditional pre-Christmas gathering at Buckingham Palace.
William and Kate are understood to have travelled to Norfolk as originally planned and are poised to join the rest of the Royal family for Christmas festivities at Sandringham.
The pre-Christmas lunch at Buckingham Palace serves as a private celebration for senior royals and their wider family who won’t be at King Charles’s Sandringham residence for the holiday period.
Previous years have seen William and Kate attending the pre-Christmas luncheon, notably in 2018 and 2019. However, the event was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to Covid-19 restrictions.
Recently, Kate made an appearance with William and their children at Westminster Abbey for her Together At Christmas carol service, signalling her tentative return to public engagements after undergoing treatment for cancer.
