Under Gilbert’s tutelage, Gauff has already won her maiden Grand Slam at the US Open last September.
She’s now through to the French Open semi-finals, where she faces her nemesis Iga Swiatek.
Gauff has historically struggled against Swiatek, with an unenviable 10-1 losing record against the world number one.
Gilbert then started working with Andy Murray in 2006 during his formative years, reaching a then career-high of world number eight when they split in 2007.
Roddick pinpointed what makes Gilbert such a good coach to work with and that in part explains how Gauff has elevated her game.
“Brad is a genius at taking very complex things and simplifying them, right? ‘We’re gonna focus on these two things out out of the gate, and we’re gonna do it all practice,’ explained the American.
