Pod koniec maja 2021 roku Wilfredo Leon przeszedł historii światowej siatkówki. W spotkaniu fazy grupowej Ligi Narodów z Serbią reprezentant Polski nie tylko poprowadził biało-czerwonych do zwycięstwa 3:1, ale dokonał rzeczy, która do dziś pozostaje jednym z najbardziej imponujących indywidualnych osiągnięć w siatkówki.
Leon zakończył tamto spotkanie z dorobkiem 26 punktów, ale do historii przeszedł z innego powodu – aż 13 oczek zdobył bezpośrednio z zagrywki. Taki wynik oznaczał ustanowienie nowego rekordu świata w liczbie asów serwisowych zdobytych przez zawodnika w meczu siatkówki. Jak poinformowała wówczas Międzynarodowa Federacja Piłki Siatkowej (FIVB), żaden siatkarz przed Leonem nie osiągnął podobnego rezultatu w oficjalnym meczu międzynarodowym.
W tamtym meczu imponowała również postawa całej reprezentacji Polski, która zakończyła spotkanie z łącznie 17 asami na koncie. Do osiągnięcia Leona dołożyli się m.in. Fabian Drzyzga, Aleksander Śliwka, Norbert Huber oraz Jakub Kochanowski. Tym samym biało-czerwoni ustanowili nowy rekord drużynowy Ligi Narodów, bijąc dotychczasowy wynik reprezentacji Włoch (14 asów).
