When Taylor asked Hayley to feature on Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), Williams originally suggested another song. She explained that it close to “a casual Paramore fan would expect me to feature on” and “I didn’t relate to that sound as much”.

Swift then sent ‘Castles Crumbling’ a minute and“not only did it feel more like a fit, I related to it lyrically on a deeper level,” Williams said.

Williams expressed her gratitude and enjoyment of the track because she thought it portrayed an experience that both she and Swift went through
