From Swiatek’s challenge to Rybakina’s title hopes: 2024 Wimbledon women’s draw in full
The women’s draw has been confirmed for 2024 Wimbledon which sees Iga Swiatek as top seed and Marketa Vondrousova as defending champion. Conducted on Friday morning, it will take place between July 1-14, 2024.
Iga Swiatek has a tough draw when it comes to winning what would be her first Wimbledon as she takes on Sofia Kenin in the opening round. She could face Yulia Putintseva or Angelique Kerber in the third round too so no easy starts.
Elena Rybakina will look to regain the title she won two years ago and in starting off she will face off against Elena-Gabriela Ruse. Ons Jabeur who has reached the final the last two years opens up against Moyuka Uchijima with Robin Montgomery and Olivia Gadecki in her section gleaming a pretty good draw.
Jessica Pegula will face off against Ashlyn Krueger in the opening round after winning Berlin earlier in the grass court season. Emma Raducanu faces Ekaterina Alexandrova in the opening round. Maria Sakkari is the seed in her section who will aim to avert another early Grand Slam loss. She faces McCartney Kessler who came through qualifying. Paula Badosa and Karolina Muchova will also face off in the opening round with the winner likely facing Mirra Andreeva.
Aryna Sabalenka opens up against Emina Bektas, but could face off against Donna Vekic in the second round. Jasmine Paolini faces Sara Sorribes Tormo with Bianca Andreescu also in her section making her return. She faces Jaqueline Cristian. Also a horror section has opened up for multiple big names.
Victoria Azarenka faces Sloane Stephens with the winner facing Diana Shnaider or Karolina Pliskova. Naomi Osaka also sits in their section with Emma Navarro the other seed. Coco Gauff who is second seed this year so avoids a certain Iga Swiatek opens up her tournament against Caroline Dolehide.
