Andy Roddick Justifies Why ‘Hurt’ Novak Djokovic Playing Wimbledon Is Different From Andy Murray Continuing Despite Injury

Andy Roddick is ready to clear the air about his controversial statements about Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic‘s Wimbledon participation! But Roddick is currently under criticism for his divergent viewpoints.

In reaction to the outcry from Novak’s supporters over his lack of comment regarding Murray’s possible withdrawal, Roddick recently addressed the matter and made his stance clear.

In a recent episode of “Served with Andy Roddick,” while talking about this year’s Wimbledon, he opened up about why he wanted Djokovic to withdraw, but not the British tennis player. Not only did he talk about the different situations of one being a top-ranked player, and the other one planning to retire this year, but at his favorite ground.

He stated, “I just want to clear something up real quick because I’ve been catching strays for the last week me saying. So when I said Novak, if he was really hurt, he should pull out before the draw is made that doesn’t mean if he has a chance to play you pull out right.”

Apparently, the 37-year-old had a procedure on a back issue last weekend, leaving his participation in serious doubt. But the two-time Wimbledon winner, who intends to call it quits later this year, is still set to compete on Tuesday in his first-round singles encounter.

Further, he added, “If he’s really hurt and knows he’s not going to play he’s going to pull out before the draw is out not the same as Andy Murray this is a largely he’s never ceremonial in the way he approaches a match but this is his last Wimbledon he wants to say goodbye to the home crowd. If Novak was playing his last tournament and he was 90s something in the world you would also want him to play regardless of hurting himself.”

Djokovic’s name was added to the official draw, indicating that he will be competing in the forthcoming Wimbledon event. Following his unanticipated retirement from the French Open, there have been persistent questions regarding his physical state, which have led to this declaration.

However, just a few days ago, he found himself apologizing on the latest episode of the Served with Andy Roddick Podcast for making a similar statement about the 24-time Grand Slam champions’ Wimbledon participation.

He stated, “I hope Novak plays. I’m amazed that we are seeing what we’re seeing, and I also I got in trouble for basically saying it’s his choice to put out videos which obviously brings attention, brings speculation, we talk about him more based on the information we have.” However, he has previously, stated that, looking into the Serb’s condition in the past few months, he should take a break for the rest of the year, leaving Djokovic’s fans furious over his statements every now and then.
