Tomasz Wiktorowski zadebiutował w boksie trenerskim Naomi Osaki! Kamery uchwyciły byłego szkoleniowca Igi Świątek w sztabie Japonki, która w środowe popołudnie stanęła do rywalizacji w drugiej rundzie turnieju WTA 1000 w Montrealu z Ludmiłą Samsonową. Polski trener został pokazany także w transmisji z kortu centralnego w Kanadzie.
W poniedziałek gruchnęła sensacyjna wiadomość dotycząca rozpoczęcia współpracy Wiktorowskiego z Osaką, które jako pierwszy przekazał portal polski-tenis.pl. Wieczorem tę informację potwierdził agent tenisistki Stuart Duguid i stało się jasne, że 44-latek dołączy do sztabu szkoleniowego Azjatki. We wtorek Blair Henley udostępniła natomiast zdjęcie, na którym widać szkoleniowca podczas treningu Azjatki.
W środę Japonka wyszła natomiast na kort centralny, gdzie zmierzyła się z Ludmiłą Samsonową. A w boksie trenerskim czterokrotnej mistrzyni wielkoszlemowej zasiadł były opiekun Świątek i Radwańskiej. Po pierwszym secie Polak nie miał jednak powodów do zadowolenia, bowiem jego nowa podopieczna przegrała z Rosjanką 4:6.
