Pululu, po namowach Cedrica Bakambu, z którym mierzył się niedawno w meczu Betis — Jagiellonia w Lidze Konferencji, miał zdecydować się na DR Kongo. Kraj swoje największe sukcesy w piłce nożnej odnosił w latach 60. i 70., jeszcze jako Zair, gdy grał na mistrzostwach świata i dwukrotnie wygrywał Puchar Narodów Afryki. Niedawno znów błysnęli, zajmując czwartą lokatę na PNA w 2023 r.
