“I don’t want to…” Novak Djokovic echoes Simone Biles’ comment on ‘what’s next’ after Olympic triumph
Novak Djokovic completed tennis on Sunday as the Serbian won the gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics, defeating Carlos Alcaraz.
Serbian tennis legend Novak Djokovic does not want to be bothered as he celebrates his gold medal win at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The 24-time Grand Slam champion who completed tennis on Sunday as he beat Carlos Alcaraz in the men’s singles final to clinch his first-ever gold medal at the Summer Games, says he wants to live in the present and not be thinking about the future.
When Djokovic was asked about his future plans, the Serbian ace said that he wanted to say the same thing as Simone Biles about what next after the Olympics triumph. As Biles asked the media not to bother with her question about what lies next after winning the Olympics, Djokovic wants the same.
He said he has waited so long for this moment and won’t let questions about his future overshadow it. Djokovic emphasized that he doesn’t want to rush into the future and is focused on enjoying this “sweeter” moment.
Djokovic wants to stay in the present rather than talk about his future plans. The 24-time Grand Slam champion says that he had to suffer quite a few failures before he achieved this feat.
Novak Djokovic also reiterated that he wants to relax now that he has achieved the “biggest sporting success”. Addressing questions about his future plans, Djokovic sent a clear message: despite numerous failed attempts to win Olympic gold, he has finally achieved it and now wants to celebrate.
Notably, Djokovic played his first-ever Olympic final on Sunday and he won it despite all odds. He defeated Carlos Alcaraz 7-6(3), 7-6(2) in close to three hours to clinch his maiden gold medal. With this, Nole became only the fifth player to complete a Career Golden Slam.
