W środę najlepsza polska tenisistka pewnie ograła Chorwatkę Janę Fett (6:2, 6:2), a w czwartek późnym wieczorem poznała kolejną rywalkę. Jelena Ostapenko pokonała w trzech setach Emmę Navarro (7:5, 3:6, 6:2) i po raz szósty w karierze zmierzy się ze Świątek. W dotychczasowych pięciu meczach zawsze była górą i uchodzi za największą zmorę Polki. W normalnym turniejowym cyklu ich ćwierćfinał odbyłby się już w piątek, ale wyjątkowy termin tegorocznego turnieju w Stuttgarcie zmusił organizatorów do reakcji.
