JUST IN: Colombian President Gustavo Petro warns the “JAGUAR” will be unleashed if Trump attacks Colombia, threatens to “take up arms” himself if he has to.
Petro says thousands of guerrillas would return if Trump took action against the country.
“If you bomb peasants, thousands of guerrillas will return in the mountains,” he said on X.
“If you arrest the president whom a good part of my people want and respect, you will unleash the popular jaguar,” he said, an apparent reference to the Colombian people.
“Although I have not been a military man, I know about war and clandestinity.”
“I swore not to touch a weapon again since the 1989 Peace Pact, but for the Homeland, I will take up arms again that I do not want.”
Yesterday, President Trump was asked by a reporter if there would be an operation against Colombia.
“Sounds good to me,” he responded.
