Funkcja pierwszej damy, mimo intensywnego charakteru, nie wiąże się z wypłatą wynagrodzenia, co oznacza, że przez 10 lat nie mogła samodzielnie odprowadzać składek emerytalnych.
Dopiero zmiany wprowadzone w 2021 roku przewidziały rekompensatę dla małżonek prezydentów w formie opłacania składek na ubezpieczenia społeczne z budżetu państwa. Składki są naliczane wstecznie i bazują na prognozowanym przeciętnym wynagrodzeniu ogłaszanym w Monitorze Polskim. W 2024 roku wynosiło ono 7824 zł, natomiast w 2025 roku ma wzrosnąć do 8673 zł. Dzięki tym regulacjom Agata Kornhauser-Duda podlega obowiązkowo ubezpieczeniom: emerytalnemu, rentowemu, chorobowemu i wypadkowemu.
