The Miami Open crowd roared with excitement during their thrilling semi-final match on Day 11. Tennis titans Grigor Dimitrov and Alexander Zverev‘s went head-to-head pushing each other to the limit. While Dimitrov ‘fought his own battles and ran his own race,’ there was a splash of vibrant support from the stands. It was from none other than Serena Williams.

The official X (formerly Twitter) profile of Tennis TV shared a clip where fans spotted Williams clapping for Dimitrov and dropping a loud cheer when Dimitrov won the first set. Donning a white t-shirt and black shades, this American Olympic gold medalist tennis star became a showstopper at the gallery. Sharing this clip, Tennis TV wrote, “The Queen approves @serenawilliams #MiamiOpen.” The battle between Zverev and Dimitrov was intense. However, Grigor Dimitrov emerged victorious against Alexander Zverev in a Miami Open semi-final nail-biter. The final score was 6-4, 6-7(4), 6-4, setting Dimitrov up for a final clash against Jannik Sinner.

With this win the Bulgarian star broke his seven-match losing streak against the German star. Back in 2014, the world no. 9 could manage to garner his first win against the current fourth-seed. While Zverev was only 17 years old at the time, Dimitrov was at the peak of his form. At one end, Dimitrov’s victory over Zverev was thrilling, stealing the show was Serena Williams at the other.

Surprisingly, it wasn’t the first time when Williams and Dimitrov shared such friendship moments.
