NFL Player “I went back to see my mom. I wasn’t even planning to go back and go to the little pool party or whatever….
“To me it was just wrong place, wrong time,” Dell said on the Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast while seated next to Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud.
“I went back to see my mom. I wasn’t even planning to go back and go to the little pool party or whatever.
“But my boys saw that I was home so they hit me up.
“They told me there was going to be security, people getting checked at the door, stuff like that.”
Caught in the crossfire, Dell was among 10 injured that night at Cabana Live.
Following the incident, the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office named 16-year-old Christopher Bouie as the shooter.
According to arrest documents, a fight initially broke out outside the club.
Not involved in the fight, Bouie is said to have then “turned around and pulled out a black and silver handgun (9mm) and began shooting towards a crowd of people.”
“And I thought I had removed myself from the situation.
“When you see on the video I ran across, I thought I’d removed myself from the situation, the altercation where they were fighting, but I put myself in the middle of two people.”
Stroud went on to say that he found out the following day just after leaving a Philadelphia 76ers game in Pennsylvania.
He explained he was informed by a PR representative from the Texans, saying that after seeing that Dell had been shot, he dropped his phone and “started tearing up.”
