Jak podaje Axios, Donald Trump był zaskoczony doniesieniami “NYT” z 20 marca, kiedy to dziennik doniósł, że następnego dnia jego doradca-miliarder ma otrzymać ściśle tajny briefing na temat planów ewentualnej wojny z Chinami w Pentagonie. Trump miał rozkazać doradcom, by do tego nie dopuścili.
“Co do k… Elon tam robi? Upewnijcie się, by tam nie poszedł” – miał powiedzieć prezydent. Krótko potem zamieścił w mediach społecznościowych wpis, w którym stwierdził, że artykuł “NYT” był “fake newsem”. Ostatecznie Musk odwiedził następnego dnia Pentagon, lecz nie otrzymał informacji o Chinach.
Axios podaje, że sprawa wycieku planów na temat briefingu była jednym z powodów zawieszenia dwóch czołowych doradców szefa Pentagonu Pete’a Hegsetha – Dana Caldwella i Darina Selnicka w związku z wewnętrznym śledztwem na temat przecieków informacji niejawnych.
Portal podaje, że działania Muska irytują wielu członków administracji Trumpa. Cytowany przez Axios oficjel przekonuje, że sam prezydent “nadal zdecydowanie uwielbia Elona, ale są pewne czerwone linie”.
