Amerykanin Robert Prevost został wybrany nowym papieżem. Na tę decyzję zareagował już były prezes Polskiego Związku Piłki Nożnej Zbigniew Boniek, który opublikował wpis w mediach społecznościowych.
W czwartek, 8 maja kardynałowie wybrali nowego papieża. Został nim Amerykanin posiadający peruwiańskie obywatelstwo – Robert Prevost, który zdecydował się wybrać imię Leon XIV.
Zbigniew Boniek, były prezes Polskiego Związku Piłki Nożnej, zareagował już na wydarzenia z Watykanu. Opublikował on wpis na platformie X, w którym zawarł trzy słowa.
Viva IL PAPA” – napisał po włosku Boniek, co w tłumaczeniu na polski oznacza “niech żyje Papież”, dodając do tego zdjęcie Leona XIV.
Były prezes PZPN, który od wielu lat mieszka w Rzymie, wcześniej poinformował, iż liczy na wygraną innego kandydata. “A ja kibicuję kardynałowi Zuppiemu. Romano e romanista” – pisał Boniek.
Zuppi urodził się właśnie w stolicy Włoch, gdzie obecnie mieszka były prezes naszego związku. Mimo że był on jednym z faworytów konklawe, to ostatecznie wybór padł na pierwszego w historii Amerykanina.
