Chicago welcomed its newest residents, Jonathan Owens, and Simone Biles, with open arms as the couple explored the city over the weekend. Owens, a recent signee with the Chicago Bears, and Biles, a decorated gymnast, shared their excitement about their new home in an interview with the team’s official website.
For Owens, the cityscape of Chicago was a sight to behold. Coming from St. Louis and spending most of his career in Houston and Green Bay, Owens had never experienced a downtown area like Chicago’s. He marveled at the skyscrapers and bright lights, calling it “sensory overload.”Biles, on the other hand, has fond memories of Chicago from her gymnastics competitions in college. She and her mother used to frequent the city for meets, enjoying shopping and exploring the vibrant streets. Returning to Chicago brought back those cherished memories for Biles. They have visited the city’s iconic spots
The couple spent the weekend immersing themselves in Chicago culture, from sampling new food spots to attending a White Sox game at Guaranteed Rate Field. Owens even had the opportunity to throw the ceremonial first pitch, fulfilling a lifelong dream.
Despite her initial expectation of a “50 Cent” style wild pitch, Biles was pleasantly surprised by Owens’ accuracy, describing it as a perfect throw. “I really thought he was going to throw a ’50 Cent.’ I was so excited for that. Well, it was actually a 10, so it irritated me how good it was. It was really good. I’m proud of him,” admitted Simone.
As Owens prepares for the upcoming NFL season, he plans to attend all of Biles’ major competitions leading up to the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, showing unwavering support for his wife. Biles, in turn, is grateful for the opportunity to support Owens and create lasting memories together in their new city. Chicago has already captured their hearts, with Biles expressing her love for the city’s iconic foods like pizza, hot dogs, and popcorn. The warm welcome and support from the city have made their transition to Chicago even more special, setting the stage for a new chapter in their lives.
With their love for each other and their new city, Owens and Biles are ready to embrace all that Chicago has to offer as they settle into their new home.
