Taylor Swift performs in Amsterdam on the 4th of July as she skips her annual party on Rhode Island which is usually attended by Selena Gomez
Taylor Swift was all about work this 4th of July as she nixed her annual Independence Day celebration in Rhode Island.
Instead, the 34-year-old pop star — who received a sentimental gift from Gigi Hadid in June — took the stage in Amsterdam, where she performed at Johan Cruijff Arena.
She is set to perform three shows at the venue, continuing through Saturday, July 6.
The singer-songwriter typically hosts a bash at her home in Watch Hill.
Last year she shared outtakes from the gathering on Instagram, writing on July 7, ‘Happy belated Independence Day from your local neighborhood independent girlies.’
The post racked up more than 9.2 million likes from Taylor’s 283 million followers.
The Pennsylvania-born music artist regularly put together a 4th of July event at her New England residence until Donald Trump became president, before bringing it back last year.
She shared with The Guardian in August 2019 that after the 2016 election, she didn’t host her ‘Taymerica’ soirées on account of her ‘disillusionment’ with America.
That same month, in a sit-down chat with Vogue, she elaborated, ‘You know, the summer before that [2016] election, all people were saying was, “She’s calculated. She’s manipulative. She’s not what she seems. She’s a snake. She’s a liar.”
‘These are the same exact insults people were hurling at Hillary Clinton, [then presidential candidate]. Would I be an endorsement or would I be a liability?
“Look, snakes of a feather flock together. Look, the two lying women. The two nasty women.”
Literally, millions of people were telling me to disappear. So I disappeared. In many senses.’
Taylor is in the thick of her record-breaking worldwide Eras tour.
In May, designer Christian Louboutin shared that he made more than 250 pairs of shoes — which generally sell for around $1,000 — for the production.
Chatting with Vogue, the 61-year-old footwear architect dished, ‘When working for performers, it’s better to start with a very large number of styles that will end up in a selection of designs which seem the best for the stage.’
It was also shared that he dreamed up 60 new pairs of shoes for the pop star to take on the European leg of her successful tour.
Hundreds of strass crystals were used in the collection and Louboutin noted, ‘I’ve learned a few magic tricks to make sure the silhouette still looks great with shoes being 100% easy to perform in.’
He added, ‘I learned at Les Folies Bergère [that] lights on stage are very strong and tend to flatten any surface.’
