Taylor Swift praises her band for over 3 hours of ‘playing live’ after Dave Grohl’s Eras Tour joke
The Foo Fighters frontman jokingly dubbed his tour the “Errors Tour” for all it’s mistakes: “That’s because we actually play live.”
Taylor Swift is turning the spotlight towards her band, just one day after Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl insinuated her show isn’t live.
On Sunday, during her third night at London’s Wembley Stadium, Swift appeared to indirectly address the rocker’s comments after the crowd offered a prolonged standing ovation, following her performance of “Champagne Problems.” In a fan-recorded video, the singer called the applause an “unforgettable moment” for not just her but “every one of my band members, every single one of our crew.”
She continued, ”My band who’s gonna be playing live for you for three and a half hours tonight, they deserve this so much. And so does every one of my fellow performers. And you just gave that to us so generously, we will never forget it.”
Swift’s comments came one day after Grohl, a self-proclaimed fan of the singer, referenced her while performing at the London Stadium on Saturday, across the city from the pop star’s show at Wembley Stadium.
“See, now I’m feeling like Taylor Swift,” Grohl said while receiving applause in footage shared on social media. “I should be so lucky.”
Later in the night, Grohl circled back to Swift and her Eras Tour. “I tell you, man, you don’t want to suffer the wrath of Taylor Swift,” he said. “We like to call our tour the ‘Errors Tour.’ We’ve had more than a few eras, and more than a few f—ing errors as well. Just a couple. That’s because we actually play live.”
He added an exaggerated, “What?,” before dramatically walking away from the microphone. He returned a moment later and continued, “Just saying. We’re a live band! You guys like raw, live rock ‘n’ roll music, right? You came to the right f—ing place.”
