Today, the British royal family led commemorations for Remembrance Sunday. Every year, the royals are joined by politicians, veterans and the public to remember those who died in combat.
The Princess of Wales revisited a memorable look from a previous Remembrance Day service, elevating the outfit with new details. While this is a day of quiet nationwide reflection, it is also, historically, a moment where the princess’s quietly considered style speaks the loudest. She wore her impeccably tailored black Catherine Walker coat (last seen at the 2022 service) with an architectural lapel, adding a lace, blue pie-crust collar blouse that peeked out at the neck. Instead of a wide-brimmed hat, as worn in the last appearance, she paired it with a new sculptural Lock & Co fascinator.
Her light brown hair fell in cascading waves under her hat and down her back, while make-up was kept minimal with a smoky eye and a nude lip.
For jewellery, she opted for her late mother-in-law’s Collingwood pearl earrings and a Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm Pilot’s wing gold FAA sweetheart brooch. The earrings were an engagement gift to Princess Diana from Collingwood The Jeweller, a Spencer family favourite.
Rewearing pieces from her wardrobe is key to the elegant, timeless Kate Middleton style formula. One favoured Jenny Packham dress, with white and black piping details, has been upcycled and tweaked several times for various royal engagements. From designer go-tos, such as Alexander McQueen and the aforementioned Catherine Walker, to high-street favourites, such as Hobbs, Self-Portrait and Reiss, Kate has definitely shown the power of a high-profile rewear across her years.
The princess joined Queen Camilla to watch the sombre proceedings from a balcony at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), while King Charles led the country in a two-minute silence. Prince William, in the traditional military-style coat and hat, took part in proceedings and laid a wreath.
